Of yoga and practice..

It is useful to practice pranayama everyday along with meditation. It is like building your reserve of energy, focus and calmness each day. It takes almost 6 months for the results to really show up. So, one smart thing to do is keep practicing!

There are many useful blogs and links on asthanga. I found this one very useful:
http://www.ashtangayoga.info/practice/asana-sequences/basic-sequence-fundamental-positions/

If you see on the left, you see the fundamental series which you start with like warm up and then, try primary or secondary(as much as you can) and then you have the finishing sequence. You also see Surya namaskara A and B. Here in my yoga class, they would do only Suryanamaskara B and I do it 12 times each day. May be A is for starters as it is less intensive to start with.

Firstly, mentally prepare youre by meditating before you start each yoga practice. And then, do as many asanas as possible and dont stress yourself. Initially focus on sitting on your mat same place and time each day. And do as much as possible. Gradually you can build up on intensity and the number of asanas. And it worked for me! :)
As far as books go, any yoga book is equally good. They teach you how to BREATHE during each asana. It becomes automatic as you practice. Most importantly, enjoy each practice!

  1. Yes, wonderful written. You expressed new knowledge i.e. that it takes time till results can be felt.
My blog is also a tool to reflect on things for myself. I feel it can be the same for yourself, too.
    Happy blogging.
