Well, if you look at some of the most successful professionals, be it top tennis professionals or CEOs they all practice yoga. It is primarily because yoga helps in mentally preparing for the challenges by keeping your body and mind in top condition. Well, yoga does this by calming the mind, maintaining harmonal balance, etc. Yoga is basically a way of life.
Yoga could also be used as alternative medicine. For instance for asthma, there are a specific group of asanas to be done regularly, under professional guidance.
I went for yoga classes in 2006 at a temple near my house. And I went there continuously for 3 months and that was quite helpful for me and I also learnt yoga through books and internet. Also, in 2009, I went to yoga classes for a month to regain the lost passion for yoga and life.
Hmmm today is sunday which means rest from yoga after a week long practice. My target for the coming week is to be on my yoga mat by 6:00 am daily. And let me see how that goes.

Back to yoga, blogging
I am happy that I have started blogging again about yoga. I have been doing yoga off and on, for more than a few couple of years now. But then, venturing seriously into Yoga, takes time and ofcourse a lot and lot of practice.
I started practicing Yoga this week from Monday, 26th July 2010. I did yoga every morning for 1 hour till today. I plan to rest only on Sundays. Rest is absolutely essential, thinking of long term.
My schedule for each practice is to do
1. Start with meditation
2. Pranayam
3. Warming up with a few standing asanas
4. 12 surya namaskaras,
5. Asanas(I ensure I do most asanas from the primary or secondary series)
6. then cooling down with asanas like sarwangaasana and shavasana.
I was successful doing it this week. Well, the challenge is to continue this for long without enhausting or injuring yourself.
And moreover, it helps when you blog immediately after each yoga practice and thats also one of the ways to keep yourself motivated.
